New Work by Wes Hurd at The Wave

Our Lecturer-in-Residence, Wesley Hurd will be showing a new work at The Wave for the month of May. Come to the opening this Friday (May 25th) at 6pm.

In Hurd’s abstract work he explores the psychological conditions promoted by the tension between apparent but temporal fulfillment of human desire and emptiness. These temporary fulfillments result in ironic reversals and setbacks that often yield yet other, albeit altered, conditions of desire.

In his most recent paintings and drawings non-referential, abstract, non-figural imagery carries his intentions to explore and communicate indirectly and allusively while maintaining the kind of concrete power these complex and dense subjects call for.
