Pushpin Ephemera at Artsdigital

Pushpin Ephemera Group Show

This pop-up show focused on works on paper by Eugene artists Julie Berkbeugler, Wes HurdJosh Sands, Alida Bevirt, Courtney Stubbert, and CVO Projects. Subtitled “a show about the work we make in order to make the work“,  we wanted to present the most common aspects to an artists’ practice – the studio ephemera that gathers at the edges of “normal” production.

Drawings, doodles, notes, prints, research images, mistakes, and collages all function as a way to process ideas, and search for a way in to visual art making. Other times, an images may arise out of scrap, or other neighboring material used to catch spills or mask spraypaint on another work. All together, one gets the idea that there isn’t that much difference, to an artist anyway, between the “real” art, and the mess that was required to get to there.
